The applications (which should be U3-compliant), data, and personal settings all reside to the portable drive, permitting you to quickly turn any Windows 2000 or XP system in to a personal workstation without threat for your privacy.

Running applications from the USB drive means, in essence, your entire computer productivity may be handled strictly from your thumb drive itself, says veteran technology consultant Tim Bajarin, who predicts that by the beginning of 2007 more than 50 % USB drives will cruise ship with bundled software.
A drives capacity will probably, of course, limit its ability to place applications and data. Most of the first U3 devices being released are 512MB or 1GB versions priced between $42 along with $100; currently only Memorex delivers 256MB ($30) along with 2GB ($180) memory sticks.
